Horsebox Licence

Most Horseboxes are either:

• A rigid body vehicle between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes, which would fall into Category C1.
• A car or small van towing a trailer, which falls into Category B+E

Whether your horsebox is big or small, Easy As HGV has a training course to suit you.

Your training to drive a Horsebox, will take 4 days depending on the type of Horsebox you want to be able to drive, and will take place at your local training school. We’ve got over 90 schools nationwide, so wherever you are we can arrange training locally to you. Our friendly Team will place all your bookings for you and hold your hand through each step of the process. With our help, learning to drive your Horsebox needn’t be stressful.

We’re the only UK HGV training provider with a course that specifically addresses the issues faced by Horsebox Drivers. In partnership with Equine Distance Learning, our course prepares you for being on the road with your Horses, including;

• Safely Transporting live animals
• Unloading and loading
• Health and safety issues for Drivers and Riders
• Rest breaks for you and your animals
• Driving responsibly with your horse onboard

Horsebox training is suitable for anyone who wants to be able to move horses themselves and is over 18 years of age. It’s not just people who ride horses who will want to be able to transport them; grooms and stablehands, parents, breeders, vets, retailers and event management/sponsors may all need to move horses, whether for medical reasons, for competitions, to work (e.g. at a wedding or a fair) or for demonstrations.
