The C1 licence is ideal for individuals training to be paramedics, as well as those in delivery, trades, small business, or transport. It enables you to confidently handle medium-sized goods vehicles (3,500kg-7,500kg) and opens up new and exciting career opportunities.
The Category C1 vehicle, often referred to as a ‘7.5 tonne’ is the Category C’s smaller cousin. A rigid body vehicle much like the Cat C, the C1 is one complete unit, and the way it handles is similar to a car or van. You can take a C1 course provided you have a driving license and are over 18. This course is ideal for horsebox and motorhome owners, ambulance drivers and paramedics.
C1 vehicles weigh 3,500 kgs to 7,500 kgs, with or without a trailer (trailers must not weigh more than 750 kgs). Drivers who passed their Car driving test before January 1997 will be able to drive a C1 vehicle under their existing licence entitlement provided they have a valid Driver CPC.
The C1 course is suitable for any car driver over 18 years of age who wishes to drive a vehicle above 3.5 tonnes but under 7.5 tonnes. At Easy As HGV we recommend that if you think you may need to drive a vehicle heavier than 7.5 tonnes in the future you consider taking a Category C course instead as it will not restrict the vehicle weight that you can drive.
After passing a theory test, the training for the C1 license is conducted over four days at your local Training School. Our friendly Instructors are experts at getting you passed first time. We’ll be with you every step of the way, with a friendly Team to book everything in for you, and one contact throughout your course.
